What Is A Quick Weave

A quick weave is a hair weaving technique where hair wefts or hair extensions are glued using bonding glue directly to a protective weave cap and placed on your head before bonding. To ensure a successful application, each weft needs to be blow-dried or air-dried once placed on the protective cap. Wefts are attached until the desired look is complete.  Quick weave hair is designed to be a faster method of installing weaves and very often reduce the installation time by half.   It roughly takes one and a half to two hours as opposed to sew in weaves which takes up to a tedious of 4 hours to install.  As such, quick weaves are the perfect alternative for working professionals or busy moms.   Quick weave hairstyles can be made of human hair, synthetic hair, or a mixture of both.  They can also vary in texture too.  In order to make it more convenient, this style can be done at home by yourself or by a professional stylist. Some of the most iconic quick weave hairstyles are the straight-ended bob. Others include half-up-half-down hairdos, curly manes, color-blocking hairstyles and short styles.

How Long Do Quick Weaves Last

If installed properly, a quick weave can last up to 4 weeks before it becomes necessary to remove. Quick weaves do not last as long as sew-in weaves because the bonding glue may begin to wear out naturally.  When your scalp starts to feel itchy or dry is also one of the signs that it is time to remove the quick weave.

Do Quick Weaves Damage Your Hair

Quick weaves may also put significantly less tension on your natural hair. Unlike sew-in weaving where your natural hair needs to be tightly braided before application and directly threaded with hair extensions, quick weaves can use gel or a non-traditional loose braiding pattern as well as a slick-backed hairstyle that may work better for those looking for a less strenuous hairstyle.  Glued on quick weave hair provides less pull to your natural hair during removal.

As such, quick weaves are amazing protective styles for your natural hair that are best to wear during extreme hot or cold temperatures. To protect your hair from the frizzy mess it becomes in humid heat or the dry and brittle muddle it turns into in the brutal cold, try getting a quick weave installed in the summer and winter months.

How Many Packs Do You Use For Quick Weave

This is one of the most frequently asked questions. Hair weave is used to increase the length, volume, thickness and texture of your hair.  Such enhancement makes it possible for you to have a variety of hairstyles that you cannot possibly have with your own natural hair.  Everyone's hair is slightly different and a few factors go into choosing how much hair you need for your desired look.

The longer your hair, the more hair you will need. For curly hair, you would need 2 - 3 packs.

Straight hair has less density compared to curly hair so you would need a little extra like 3 to 4 packs if you want a full look.

Measure Your Head - Use a tape measure to measure your head from ear to ear. An average woman's head is about 22.5 inches. The larger the number, the more packs you would need. If your head is on the smaller side, you may need between 2 -3 packs.

Before you order hair extensions, you may want to have a quick discussion with your hairstylist to save you time, effort and money.
